Mr. Husain has worked in Wall Street for 8 years, before joining AGIS to setup the Steel Galvanizing Plant in Abu Dhabi, the first of its kind in UAE.  He took the operation from a start-up to completing twelve successful years of operation including the Joint Venture deal with Nippon Steel Corporation and successfully doubling of capacity from 250k tpa to Half a Million tpa.  He has won several awards including ‘Best CEO – Steel & Metals Industry Middle East’ & ‘UAE’s Growth Strategy CEO of the year’ from Business Worldwide Magazine in 2016 and ‘Man of the Year-2016’ Award by World News Media.

Head of Mining & Portfolio Manager,

Alain Corbani joined FINANCE SA in July 2013 as Head of Mining and Natural Resources and portfolio manager of the Global Gold & Precious fund. From November 2008 to July 2013 he was COO of Commodities AM and portfolio manager of the same precious metal fund. Under Alain’s tenure, the fund has outperformed its benchmark, the FTSE Gold Mines Index, while displaying a lower volatility.  It was the best performing precious metals fund among its French managed peers in 2009, 2010, 2016 and 2020. It is the best performing fund over the last five years. * Prior to managing the Global Gold and Precious fund, Alain worked for 17 years as a Sell-side analyst and investment banker, notably as Director of Dominion Securities, then RBC Capital Markets prior to founding Green Oak Securities.

Alessandro Sciamarelli (born in 1970) holds the position of Director of Economic and Market Analysis at the European Steel Association (EUROFER) based in Brussels, where he carries out economic research and analysis linked to the steel sector.

Prior to joining EUROFER, he held for over ten years equivalent positions at other Brussels-based European associations (namely in the mortgage lending sector and the cement sector) and, before that, he worked for the Economic Studies Office of a leading cement and construction group in Rome and for the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht. He holds a PhD in Economics (1999) and a degree in political science (1995) from the University of Pisa, Italy.

Alia Smektala studied business administration at the University of Leipzig (Master of Science) and at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. She started her career at CRONIMET Envirotec as a working student in the company’s Business Development. Afterwards she was responsible for setting up a new marketing strategy for the young company as its Marketing Manager. After that Mrs. Smektala became increasingly involved in Sales and Business Development and is now Head of Sales. The company based in Bitterfeld-Wolfen is part of the CRONIMET group and specializes in recycling metal containing sludges, powders, filter dust, and contaminated spent catalysts. The company has been awarded with various innovation and resource efficiency awards as a technology leader in recycling metal byproducts.

Amit is the head of export sales at AM/NS India. He is a management graduate with more than 13 years of experience in the steel Industry. Joined as a management trainee in 2008, Amit has efficiently managed sales to key export markets. He has been credited with expanding AN/NS’s footprints in diverse geographies and swiftly establishing markets for value added products. He is admired in the industry for his excellent customer relationship and expertise in building long terms partnership models with the key clients.
He has significantly augmented number of end users and channel partners to AM/NS’s client base utilizing his networking acumen. He is well-travelled, tech savvy, a social media influencer and an avid supporter of digitalization. Amit has been a regular speaker at international steel conferences and management institutes.

Market Analyst, Manganese Ore & Shipping,

Antoine Delavenne is a Market Analyst in the Mining & Metals division at Eramet, a French multinational mining and metallurgy company. He focuses mainly on manganese ore market, from the supply side to the whole downstream value chain – both primary applications (steel) and secondary ones (batteries, chemicals), spearheading modeling for fundamentals tracking and forecasting using both conventional and alternative data. He leads the analysis of shipping markets (dry bulk, containers) to support charterers from the supply-chain department.

He also sits on the Statistics Committee of the International Manganese Institute.

Prior to his role, Antoine worked for 2 years as a Market Analyst in the oil industry while graduating a MS in Energy Economics from the French Petroleum Institute School and studied Industrial Organization and Market Finance at the Toulouse School of Economics.

Born in India in 1953, Kumar has lived in the United States since 1975.  He earned a B.Com degree from University of Delhi and a B.B.A. degree from St. John Fisher College, Rochester, N.Y. in 1976.  In 1980, Kumar saw an opportunity and new business to efficiently recover platinum group metals from the automobile catalytic converters that had only recently been required, and advanced that business as the requirement became worldwide.  Over 35 years he became the world’s largest recycler of salvage automotive converter/catalyst, and a major supplier to the automotive industry of platinum, palladium and rhodium metals. In 2008, he committed to smelt auto catalyst in Swindon, UK, the first salvage consolidator to do so. He has also sponsored university research into this field, including a broad study of PGM life cycle stocks and flows. In 2011, amid concerns of supply shortages, Kumar promoted and further supported research to investigate the recovery of cerium oxide from auto catalyst.  Kumar at present is the Managing Director of Alliance Industries Limited, and exploring further opportunities in growing Asian markets.

Ashton Hertrich, has a master degree in Construction Management in the Oil&Gas sector, worked as a technical engineer in EPC projects for Oil & Gas Industries. He joined Danieli two year ago in the sales department as Sales Engineer. Nowadays he is dealing with proposals for DRP Energiron projects worldwide taking care of the technical and commercial portion, feasibility studies with particular focus on customer demands. Also, involved in the development of environmentally sustainable solutions in the iron making industry with the aim of reduction of CO2 footprint, applying Energiron technology.  He is following the marketing activity regarding Energiron technology.

After Bernhard Steenken completed his master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, he joined the SMS group in Düsseldorf in Corporate Development until he took over the position as CEO of SMS digital in 2018.

Mr. Alanis was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1975.He holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey and an MBA from the EGADE Business School. Founded Fisacero in 2015 to begin a new era from the previous company defunct in 1995.

Fisacero is a cold rolling mill that specializes in custom made steel strip for the auto and electronics industries, among others. Has taken courses in Metallurgy at the University of Sheffield and served as contributor to AIST Mexico´s magazine Hierro y Acero.
Mr. Alanis currently is the Chief Executive Officer of Fisacero.


Jin is Director  – Commodities at the SGX. His responsibilities include development and enhancement of bulk commodity products focusing on iron ore and coal.

Before joining SGX, he was a trader at Pavilion Gas and Hess Energy Trading Company where he covered LNG and freight. He started his career at Glencore in 2003 where he was on the graduate trader programme in the London office before being transferred to Singapore as a gasoline trader.

Jin has an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.

Clyde Russell is Asia Commodities and Energy Columnist at Reuters. He has been a journalist and editor for 33 years covering everything from wars in Africa to the resources boom and its current struggles. Born in Glasgow, he has lived in Johannesburg, Sydney, Singapore and now splits his time between Tasmania and Asia. He writes about trends in commodity and energy markets, with a particular focus on China. Before becoming a financial journalist in 1996, Clyde covered civil wars in Angola, Mozambique and other African hotspots for Agence-France Presse.

Devvrat presently is the Managing Director of Duro Steel AG, Switzerland and manages the entire non-prime business of Duro Steel AG in Middle East, Europe, South East Asia and North Africa.

He also serves as a board member for Steel1India (an ArcelorMittal company) where he provides strategic and operational inputs.

Beginning with Project Selling for Shipbuilding Steels in 2007, and then distribution of alloy steel wire rod, coils, seamless pipes for oil and gas, Devvrat has over 12 years of varied experience in steel projects and distribution.

Devvrat Moondhra has a degree in Business Administration & Finance from Boston University.

With a Masters degree in Mathematics from Oxford University, Dick is now approaching his 45th year in steel trading and distribution, Stemcor being his employer for much of that time.
After a long period importing finished steel into the UK and Ireland, Dick moved to international trade for the next 15 years, initially in long products, and then for a long period trading coking coal and steel scrap across the globe. For the last 7 years Dick has been managing finished steel products trade into European markets, focusing on Central Europe, Scandinavia, Iberia and the UK.

Mr. Gibeaut has served in the induction heating and melting industry for 40 years. He is currently managing all global businesses for AjaxTOCCO Magnethermic regarding bar and tubular products. He is currently serves as the Chairman of the ITA (International Tube Association) for North and South America and serves on the International Technical Board as well. As of March 2021, he was appointed to the FMA/TPA (Tube and Pipe Association) Advisory board serving North America.
Donald Gibeaut has formerly served on multiple committees for the FIA (Forging Industry Association) to include a PAC, which we now call fly-ins, and taught an annual Induction workshop. Mr. Gibeaut has written multiple articles for the Forging Magazine. He has had several published articles and authored or contributed to TPT and TPJ magazine articles and editorials for years. He recurrently presents at the Brazil Senafor industrial conference, Forge Fair conference, Tube and Pipe Conference for the AMM, and Tube coating conferences for the AMI globally. He has taught several webinar courses for Tenaris University, power utility seminars, and training programs.
His studies were in Electric Engineering at The Ohio State University. So, even though he now lives in Texas, he is, and always will be, a dedicated Buckeye. He resides in Huntsville, Texas, just north of Houston, with his wife and two of their five children, and three grandchildren.

Managing Director,

Jason Begger is the Managing Director of the Wyoming Integrated Test Centerand the owner of Armature Advocacy. He was raised on a family ranch in eastern Montana and after graduating from college, he moved to Washington, DC, working for U.S Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT) and U.S. Representative Denny Rehberg (R-MT). In Washington, he staffed the House Agriculture Committee and later the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, focusing on Bureau of Reclamation water projects and Department of Energy Office of Fossil Energy funding.

In 2006, Jason accepted a position with the Petroleum Association of Wyoming, before becoming the Manager of Government affairs for Rio Tinto Energy America, which was spun off in 2009 to become Cloud Peak Energy. From 2015 to 2020, he was the Executive Director of the Wyoming Infrastructure Authority and has led the Wyoming Integrated Test Center since its formation in 2015.

Jason has a BA in History from Montana State University – Billings and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver. Jason, his wife Kristin, and two young daughters live just outside of Cheyenne, WY.

Joachim von Schéele received his MSc in Process Metallurgy and PhD in
Production Engineering from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm,
Sweden in 1987 and 1992, respectively.
With a mix of steel research and consultancy background, Joachim von Schéele
joined the industrial gases industry in 1996. Since then, he has served in many
different technical and commercial management roles at AGA, BOC and Linde,
and been actively doing business in more than 40 countries around the world.
The last nine years he was based in Asia, first in India as VP for South Asia and
then in China heading Application Sales for Asia-Pacific. He is very much
engaged in driving the sustainability agenda – with focus on decarbonization –
and involving and co-operating with Linde’s customers on this topic to achieve
joint progress and success.
Joachim von Schéele is a well-known speaker and has published more than 200
papers on energy and emission conservation, recycling, and production. He has
served as a member of more than 30 boards of companies, associations, and
research and education organizations, and as session chairman at many
conferences. He is included in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in
Engineering, and Who’s Who in Asia. Joachim von Schéele holds six patents
related to combustion and recycling, and is based in Munich, Germany.

Joe is Head of Financial Sales, Asia for the LME. The London Metal Exchange is the leading exchange for base metals derivatives for 140 years, however relatively recently we have ventured into ferrous with modern, standard, simple futures contracts for steel.

His primary responsibility at the LME is to talk to users and potential users who have a speculative or financial background, that are keen to get exposure to metal futures (including steel) and just need a bit of help understanding the contracts and navigating a path to market.

Based in Singapore, he often gets called upon to help with clients around the region who need some help with hedging and price risk management.


Shri K K Pahuja has over 40 years’ experience in the Indian Steel Industry in the areas of operations, market development and policy making. As President of Indian Stainless-Steel Development Association, he is currently driving efforts for promotion and growth of Indian stainless-steel industry. He has worked at Steel Authority of India Ltd. as Executive Director, where he has been part of corporate operations and involved in product development, enhancing operating efficiencies and driving growth plans of the company. He is a mechanical engineer from BITS Pilani and MBA from FMS, Delhi University. He has been a senior assessor for CII-EXIM Bank Business Excellence Award and has been advising many companies on their journey towards excellence and change management. He has also been guest faculty for Strategic Management at IIFT Delhi

Kevin Fowkes has worked as an economist and consultant in the ferroalloy industry since 1998.

From 2007 to 2009, Kevin Fowkes was a business development manager in the metals division of Privat Group.  Before that he was the senior market analyst for the Norwegian ferroalloy group Elkem, and a consultant for Hatch Beddows and CRU International.  Since 2009, Kevin has run AlloyConsult, his own company, which provides bespoke consulting services to the ferroalloy industry.

In 1964, Lynette Zang began her studies on gold and collectibles via her uncle, who was a high-end antique dealer in New York. Her father was a real estate developer in Kingston, New York. With his contacts in local commercial banking, she began her banking career at 15.

Lynette focused her college education on business finance, first at Fairleigh Dickenson University and England’s Wroxton College. She then transferred, completing her degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

She remained in commercial banking until 1986 when she shifted to investment banking with Larson Lehman/American Express and became a stockbroker. Initially she focused her attentions on the government bond market, learning the nuances of debt and interest rate moves on bond maturities. In that capacity, she stumbled across non-dollar denominated bonds and added the currency dimension. This led to the discovery of currency life cycle patterns and a deep understanding of the impact of those life cycles on all socioeconomic levels and asset classes.

Lynette’s mission is to translate financial noise into understandable language and enable educated, independent choices. All her work is fact and evidence based and she shares these tools openly. He joined Eusider Group in 2020 as CEO of Eusider Trading, focusing in the international trade of Scrap, Semis and Finished Productsfrom the Swiss-based headquarter in Lugano.

Markus Abel is currently the Co-Owner and Managing Director at tripleS GbR.

In the past, he has worked for Siemens VAI (former FUCHS Systems) for more than 15 years, where his final role was Head of Process Technology for EAF and LF as well as Product Lifecycle Manager of the EAF, before he shifted to Horst Wiesinger Consulting for more than one year, where his role was Director of Electric Steelmaking and Senior Expert Steelmaking.

Markus studied Process and Environmental Engineering at the Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, where he did his Diploma thesis for FUCHS Systemtechnik at the Steelplant of Stahl Gerlafingen / Switzerland on Removal of Dioxins and Furans in the offgas of an Electric Arc Furnace.

Markus is author of more than 20 technical papers and presented at several conferences.

Martin Provencher is AVEVA’s Global Industry Principal for Mining, Metals and Materials. He has more than 25 years of experience in operations & maintenance management and information technology. He is also Vice-President of the Maintenance Engineering and Reliablity Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining. His industry knowledge was acquired through different positions he held in his career, such as Production Director for Casthouse and Production Services at Aluminerie Alouette, the largest aluminum smelter in the Americas, located in Quebec, Canada, where he was managing operations & maintenance for seven different production areas. Before that, Mr. Provencher was the Information Technology & Automation Manager for Aluminerie Alouette where he created a multi-year strategic plan to improve the plant’s performance by leveraging technology. He has also been an active Industry 4.0 speaker and influencer for IBM as the Quebec Mining and Metals Leader in Canada. Mr. Provencher holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science with Artificial Intelligence focus from University of Quebec in Montreal.

Nicholas has over 18 years of experience in sales and marketing. For the past 7 years he has been at Tubular Steel Inc. managing sales and marketing for North America. Moving into Sales for the next 5 years, in Chennai & Mumbai, he set-up the National Account concept with large construction customers. He is a certified Theory of Constraint Application Expert, by the Goldratt Schools and has set-up the supply chain transformation models at TSL extended to the Distributors & Retailers. He was the Head of Corporate Strategy & Planning for 5 years during which TSL was awarded the Deming Grand Prize. He has been the Chief Sales Manager of Tata Steel for the Eastern Region generating revenue base of 5000Cr pa., before moving into the role of Driving Business Excellence & Innovation.
