Mr. Husain has worked in Wall Street for 8 years, before joining AGIS to setup the Steel Galvanizing Plant in Abu Dhabi, the first of its kind in UAE. He took the operation from a start-up to completing twelve successful years of operation including the Joint Venture deal with Nippon Steel Corporation and successfully doubling of capacity from 250k tpa to Half a Million tpa. He has won several awards including ‘Best CEO – Steel & Metals Industry Middle East’ & ‘UAE’s Growth Strategy CEO of the year’ from Business Worldwide Magazine in 2016 and ‘Man of the Year-2016’ Award by World News Media.
Born in Istanbul in 1976, Ahmet Soybaş completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul. He graduated from Istek Belde College in 1994, and graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Business Administration in 1998 and did his master’s degree at Aston Univetsty-Birminghan/England in 1998-1999. Ahmet Soybaş, who has been the Deputy Chairman of Sami Soybaş Demir Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş since 2001, is married and has two children.
Alain Corbani joined FINANCE SA in July 2013 as Head of Mining and Natural Resources and portfolio manager of the Global Gold & Precious fund. From November 2008 to July 2013 he was COO of Commodities AM and portfolio manager of the same precious metal fund. Under Alain’s tenure, the fund has outperformed its benchmark, the FTSE Gold Mines Index, while displaying a lower volatility. It was the best performing precious metals fund among its French managed peers in 2009, 2010, 2016 and 2020. It is the best performing fund over the last five years. * Prior to managing the Global Gold and Precious fund, Alain worked for 17 years as a Sell-side analyst and investment banker, notably as Director of Dominion Securities, then RBC Capital Markets prior to founding Green Oak Securities.

Alastair McIntyre, is a well-known accomplished metals and mining executive with senior management expertise through roles with leading natural resources banks including Scotiabank, Natixis and Landsbanki (in Toronto, New York, Sydney, and Hong Kong) where he executed hundreds of structured deals in multiple currencies, metals, and products for metal producers and consumers in North and South America, Africa, Australia and Asia.
In addition, Mr. McIntyre has held numerous capital market and technical advisory roles, including Senior Managing Director at Behre Dolbear Capital, responsible for providing support for numerous M&A transactions and IPO’s on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Prior to finance, Alastair held senior roles in gold refining at the Royal Canadian Mint and worked as an exploration and underground mine geologist in Atlantic Canada.
Mr. McIntyre currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Altiplano Metals Inc as well as serving on the Advisory Board of Benchmark Metals and Director of VOX Royalty Limited. Mr. McIntyre holds MAusIMM CP (Man) and P. Geo (Limited) professional accreditations and has earned a BSc (Geology) and a B. Comm. (Bus Admin and Economics) from Dalhousie University in Halifax.
Alessandro Sciamarelli (born in 1970) holds the position of Director of Economic and Market Analysis at the European Steel Association (EUROFER) based in Brussels, where he carries out economic research and analysis linked to the steel sector.
Prior to joining EUROFER, he held for over ten years equivalent positions at other Brussels-based European associations (namely in the mortgage lending sector and the cement sector) and, before that, he worked for the Economic Studies Office of a leading cement and construction group in Rome and for the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht. He holds a PhD in Economics (1999) and a degree in political science (1995) from the University of Pisa, Italy.
Alfonso Figueroa has Bachelor’s Degree from the Universidad de Guadalajara, 25+ years’ experience in sales and business development, 15 of those in the steel industry. He’s worked in the construction, industrial and oil & gas markets in Mexico for Sumitomo Corporation, Salzgitter Mannesmann International, Benteler Group and joined Duferco Mexico as Commercial Director since early 2020.
Alik Angaladian is the Director, Trade and Economics Affairs of the Canadian Steel Producers Association representing Canada’s primary steel and pipe and tube industry.
Alik has over a decade of policy, regulatory and advocacy experience in Canada’s national capital of Ottawa. Prior to joining the CSPA, Alik was a consultant in some of Canada’s top government relations firms with a successful record of providing strategic advice in a variety of sectors including international trade, energy, finance, transportation, labor and consumer products.
Alik is a licensed lawyer and holds a civil law degree and a Juris Doctor common law degree, from which she graduated with honours, from the University of Ottawa. Prior to obtaining her two law degrees, Alik earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Dalhousie University.
Alik is fluent in English, French and Armenian. She is a member of the Government Relation Board of Directors as well as on the Board of Lawn Summer Nights, a national Canadian fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis.
Mr. Alok Sahay, Executive Director (Commercial), SAIL has 38 years of varied experience in the steel industry.
In addition to his responsibilities in SAIL, Mr. Sahay serves on the Board of Directors of several companies and is the Chairman of M/s SAIL-RITES Bengal Wagon Industry Limited.
He holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Physics (Honors) and Law. His experience includes training at British Steel and a tenure as a visiting fellow at Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford University.
He has held positions handling marketing and operations in SAIL’s International trade division as well as in domestic markets all over the country. Record exports by SAIL during his tenure remained unsurpassed for over 15 years.
He developed and headed the Defence vertical of SAIL, developing critical import substitution products in a joint effort involving R&D establishments of SAIL, Defence and other Government units. These efforts led to successful launching of fully indigenous warships.
He heads SAIL’s Defence & Railways vertical, the Special Steels Group and the division for Trade and Economic Partnerships, apart from other responsibilities.

Drew leverages over 20 years of experience in commodities trading, financial risk management, and corporate finance leadership to identify and implement the best solutions for Mobius Risk Group’s clients.
Drew joined Mobius from AK Steel, where he was responsible for the build out and leadership of AK’s financial hedging and risk management functions. In addition to his risk management responsibilities, Drew led corporate development, including multiple acquisitions and divestitures, financial oversight of subsidiaries and international operations, and served on the Boards of several metals processing and service center businesses including Spartan Steel Coatings, Combined Metals of Chicago, and Vicks Metals. Prior to AK Steel, Drew spent 15 years in roles of increasing responsibility in commodities sales and trading.
After beginning his career as an options market maker and member of the Chicago Board of Trade, he moved off the floor into trading and leadership roles including at RBC Capital Markets, where as Director of Commodities he led several trading desks as well as the commodities quantitative analysis group.
Arpan Gupta is the Joint Director at Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, leading divisions steel, mining, cement & non-ferrous metals. His primary role at FICCI encompasses regulatory & policy deliberations with governments, organization of seminars along with report development and research management. He maintains strong relations with various Government officials; alongside strong connect with steel, cement & mining organizations in India & abroad. He has also been involved in leading industry delegations abroad for exploring steel & mining opportunities.
At FICCI, he has spearheaded reports on Mineral Exploration, Indian Mining & Steel Industries. He has also written numerous representations and is a widely known figure across the industries.
Prior to joining FICCI, Arpan worked with IDC India for more than four years as Senior Manager Industry Verticals Research. He spearheaded key assignments for top IT vendors and was widely appreciated for his project management and leadership skills. He had conducted many feasibility and exploratory studies that have helped clients in taking winning business decisions. He was responsible for establishing the Government Sector IT Research Practice at IDC India.
He is a regular speaker in various summits around the above mentioned sectors and is widely quoted in national dailies and magazines. Arpan completed his MBA from Delhi School of Economics, specializing in International Business. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce from University of Delhi. He has also completed one-year diploma from NIIT and holds a certificate course in derivatives, commodities and capital markets from National Stock Exchange of India. He also acquired beginners proficiency in SPSS.
Born in India in 1953, Kumar has lived in the United States since 1975. He earned a B.Com degree from University of Delhi and a B.B.A. degree from St. John Fisher College, Rochester, N.Y. in 1976. In 1980, Kumar saw an opportunity and new business to efficiently recover platinum group metals from the automobile catalytic converters that had only recently been required, and advanced that business as the requirement became worldwide. Over 35 years he became the world’s largest recycler of salvage automotive converter/catalyst, and a major supplier to the automotive industry of platinum, palladium and rhodium metals. In 2008, he committed to smelt auto catalyst in Swindon, UK, the first salvage consolidator to do so. He has also sponsored university research into this field, including a broad study of PGM life cycle stocks and flows. In 2011, amid concerns of supply shortages, Kumar promoted and further supported research to investigate the recovery of cerium oxide from auto catalyst. Kumar at present is the Managing Director of Alliance Industries Limited, and exploring further opportunities in growing Asian markets.
Chen Yan worked as raw material market analyst since 2002 after graduating from metallurgy major in Anhui University of Technology. In 2004, Chen Yan joined in Shanghai SteelHome and focused on iron ore and scrap research till now. Chen participated into the calculation of SteelHome China Raw Material Price Index (SH-CMPI), SteelHome Iron Ore Weighted Price, SteelHome Scrap Price Index, the strategic cooperation with global research institutes, bringing SteelHome to be one of authoritative information sources among international steel and raw material industry. She has been invited to speak at international raw materials conferences in Australia, Singapore, India, Russia since 2011.
Chris Shipp is currently Vice President of Supply Chain at Priefert Manufacturing/Priefert Steel with a primary role of procuring over 150,000 tons a year.
Born and raised in Texarkana TX he joined the U.S. Navy in 1988, serving for 22 years in Special Operations as a Cryptologic Technician. Deploying on submarines the majority of his career, he led over 28 missions supporting the Global War on Terrorism and other combat military operations.
He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2010 and moved to back to East Texas. He started working for Priefert as a Purchasing Agent, and progressed to Director of Procurement, General Manager, Vice President of Sales/Priefert Steel, and his current position as Vice President of Supply Chain.
Mr. Haymaker is Chief Operating Officer of HedgeStar where he oversees the risk management consulting, software advisory, hedge accounting and valuation groups. He is a subject matter expert in financial reporting and accounting for debt, equities, derivatives, and other financial instruments. Mr. Haymaker has over 14 years of audit, professional accounting, and risk management experience. Mr. Haymaker has held positions with top companies including Deloitte & Touche LLP (Boston), Liberty Mutual Group (Boston) and U.S. Bank (Minneapolis) with a focus on treasury departments, capital markets and risk functions.
Mr. Haymaker is also an Events Committee Chair and Steering Committee Member for the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) in Minneapolis.

Mr. Popescu is an independent investment consultant and studies the forex, gold and silver markets and the international monetary system. He has followed and researched the gold, silver and foreign exchange markets for 50 years. He has a bachelor degree in physics from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and has completed the Canadian investment management certificate. With a Masters degree in Mathematics from Oxford University, Dick is now approaching his 45th year in steel trading and distribution, Stemcor being his employer for much of that time.
After a long period importing finished steel into the UK and Ireland, Dick moved to international trade for the next 15 years, initially in long products, and then for a long period trading coking coal and steel scrap across the globe. For the last 7 years Dick has been managing finished steel products trade into European markets, focusing on Central Europe, Scandinavia, Iberia and the UK.
Dr. Manenti is President of Metal Consulting, a Pittsburgh (USA) based consulting firm specializing in strategy and technology consulting for all key aspects of the production, management, and procurement for the steel and metals industries and especially in the Direct Reduced Iron technology.
He served on the board of Directors of AIST (Association of Iron and Steel Technology) the world’s largest steel non-profit association with 17,500 members from more than 70 countries. For AIST, he founded the Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) Technology Committee and served also as its first Chair.
Dr. Manenti is a renowned and regular speaker at metal and mining industry events, institute meetings, and other conferences worldwide with more than 30 Presentations in International Conferences and several publications on industry magazines. He advises companies on technology trends, decarbonization, and the use of ore-based metallic and hydrogen in iron and steel production.
In addition to his consulting practice, he brings more than 25 years of leadership experience as a Senior Executive with Multi-billion USD steel equipment suppliers and producers such as the TECHINT Group and DANIELI. For TECHINT he managed companies, and he has participated in most of TECHINT’s mergers and acquisitions in the U.S.A., creating and developing the worldwide marketing & sale strategy for the Consteel® process, and creating and directing TECHINT’s iron & steel business unit in Pittsburgh, PA (currently TENOVA Inc.).
Dr. Anrin Bhattacharyya is the inventor of several new technologies in iron and steel industries, while also being active in trading and arbitrage business of raw materials and steel products. Two groundbreaking techlogies of DRI production from plant and mining wastes – RECYRON and NO-MUD, were invented by him. As the Founder & CEO of RECYRON Engineering & Consulting e.U., he leads the company from its base in Leoben, Austria with partner offices in India, China and Canada. He studied metallurgy in Calcutta, India and completed his PhD from Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria. He has worked in numerous projects with companies like voestalpine, Primetals, Thyssenkrupp, HKM, Alzchem, POSCO etc. He has won several entrepreneurship awards. He is a distinguished speaker on numerous global platforms related to the steel industry. He is also actively involved in raw materials sourcing and re-utilization of decommissioned plants. His new business ventures include digitization in the steel industry and strategic asset management for heavy industries in the developing countries. He is fluent in Bengali, Engllish and German. He was also honoured as one of the top 40 under 40 EU-India Business Leaders at the European Parliament, Brussels in 2019.
Dr. Gunther Voswinckel is currently a CEO and Shareholder at VOSCO M.C. GmbH.
Dr. Voswinckel has a wealth of experience in board level positions having spent 16 years at Mannesmann Demag Ag in a variety of roles.
He worked as a CEO for 9 years at Otto Junker GmbH and has been a shareholder in Dr. Voswinckel Management consultants and VOSCO for 5 years.
He is a president of the International Tube Association and sits on several boards in supervisory capacities.
Dr. Nils Backeberg is the Manager of the Steel Alloys division at Roskill. He brings academic rigour and industry experience to Roskill’s market research and is a regular speaker on steel and alloy market developments and outlooks, with a special focus on chromium. Before joining Roskill in 2017, he worked as an exploration geologist on rare earth deposits in South Africa, gold deposits in Canada and geothermal projects in Guatemala. Nils completed his PhD at McGill University in structural geology and after his PhD worked on rock mechanics of shale gas exploitation technologies at the University College London. Nils has published several peer-reviewed research articles and received his Chartered Scientist accreditation in 2019. His home is in South Africa where he heads up Roskill’s regional office and team.
Shankar Venkataraman is the Technical Marketing Manager at Schmidt + Clemens Group, a specialized high alloy foundry headquartered in Germany. Shankar is a metallurgist and holds a doctorate from the Dresden University of Technology in Dresden, Germany. He has experience in the application engineering of heat resistant and corrosion resistant high alloy castings for various industrial applications. An author of more than 30 publications, Shankar is also a steering committee member with Stainless Steel World, Duplex World global conferences and is a professional member of AMPP (formerly NACE), AISTECH and TAPPI as well as the German Corrosion Society.
Mr. Yayan got B.A. degrees from Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University in 1977 and Faculty of Law of the Istanbul University in 1987. Then he got his PhD degree from the Istanbul University Faculty of Economics in 1997. Mr. Yayan has diplomas from University of Michigan on Development Economy and Population Planning; from the University of Sussex on Labor Market Information System and Japan Int. Coop. Agency on Development and improvement of Employment.
Mr. Veysel Yayan started his career as Reporter at the Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Trade in 1976. Then he worked at State Planning Organization, as Expert and Undersecretariat of Defense Industries, as Head of Department, Deputy Undersecretary and Acting Undersecretary until he retired in 1998.
After serving 22 years for government from expert to Undersecretary levels between 1976-1998, he was appointed as Secretary General to the Turkish Steel Producers Association in 1998. On 25 September 2018, Dr. Yayan was appointed as Undersecretary to Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. In August 2018, Yayan retired from government and returned to his position as Secretary General of Turkish Steel Producers Association. He is also chairman of the Iron and Non-Iron Metals Assembly at the Turkish Chamber of Commerce.
Emily Sarah Hersh resides in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she works as Managing Partner of DCDB Group. Emily is a well known expert in the lithium and battery industry. She is the host of The Minerals Manhattan Project podcast and the Weekly Recharge video series. In addition, it manages projects in South America for companies in the mining, energy, oil and gas industries. Her lithium expertise includes project due diligence, country risk assessment, and emerging battery technologies.

His Excellency Eng. Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi is Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Steel. In this role, he leads the company’s strategic development as a regional leader in the steel manufacturing sector. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in expanding the company’s manufacturing capability and product range to include new types of steel products of varying grades, in mitigating its environmental impact, and in stepping up efficiencies to increase exports to more than 40 countries around the world.
Al Remeithi brings to his role nearly two decades of experience in the industry, the majority of it acquired at Emirates Steel, and holds expertise in leadership, project management, maintaining key relationships, corporate governance and in trend-spotting to identify key global markets.
Prior to his promotion as CEO, Al Remeithi was Senior Vice President, Operations and Acting CEO. Earlier, he was Vice President, Production at the company following a stint as Assistant Vice President – Rolling Mills. He first joined Emirates Steel at its inception as a Production Manager and worked his way through the ranks. Al Remeithi started his career as Project Manager at General Holding Corporation (GHC).

Ian is a highly regarded industry analyst, with over 20 years’ experience in metals, starting at CRU in London. Since 2003, Mr Roper was based in Shanghai, China initially with Steel Business Briefing and then Macquarie, before a five year stint at Rio Tinto running their iron ore analysis. Over 2010-2017, Mr Roper worked as a sell-side analyst with CLSA and Macquarie based in Shanghai and Singapore.

The project includes reopening the Pea Ridge mine, a pipeline for transportation of the Fe Concentrates to the river property, development of a large-scale hydroelectric facility (at the mine site), the acquisition of off-peak wholesale energy from underutilized nuclear facilities (and curtailed renewables), thermo-electric production of hydrogen, reduction of iron concentrates to hot DRI and conversion into Steel Slab via EAF. Historically Pea Ridge produced over 50 million tons of +68% Fe concentrates prior to closing in 2001. More recent feasibility work projects the delivered cost of +70% Fe to the river property below $50 per ton. The benefits of integration allow for DRI production below $150 per ton and slab steel production below $300 per ton. The Missouri mining permit remains active and valid.

Liam McHugh is the Director of Policy and Government Affair at the World Coal Association (WCA) – the global industry association for progressive members of the coal value chain who are committed to advancing clean coal for sustainable economic development
In this role, Liam leads the WCA’s advocacy work with a particular focus on energy poverty, sustainable development and climate change issues. undertaking senior stainless technical, operations and supply chain roles
in the Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK before joining the ISSF in August

lean flow and operations, gain a post-graduate diploma in operations and

He has been key note speaker and presented in many conferences and has also done international market research projects at International Stainless Steel Forum. He carries vast techno commercial skills covering the entire value chain of steel. He joined EU-Metal BV in 2020 which is a reputed company associated with 70+ mills, trading houses and service centres across the globe, dealing in prime and non-prime flat & long steel products, stainless steel flats, ferrous & non-ferrous scraps & wood. At EU-Metal he is leading the stainless steel business development and trade finance initiatives.
Ms. Cossio holds a degree on Industrial Engineering from the Univ. of Lima and CIP Registry 59939 at Peruvian School of Engineers. She is also member of the YLAI – Young Latin American Initiative, where she was a Partners of the Americas fellowship recipient, program of the US Dept. of State.
Her first experiences were in Production, Marketing and Purchasing areas, the latter at CAASA steel mill in Peru. These five years allowed her to comprehensively analyze the steel market and project her capabilities at COSANDES INV; a Peruvian Trading office she established back in 2003 following her interest in the development of Small enterprises in Latinamerica. Cosandes began selling calorized lances in alliance with Daiwa Steel, Japanese group with presence in more than 50 countries but not in Latinamerica, where she developed market from zero and now having stable business with sales in the whole region, with distributor in Brazil – selling to 17 foundries – and Chile and Colombia agents into mining sector.
Since 2005, other product lines were added like ferroalloys, refractories (mass and isostatics), cored wire for secondary metallurgy, water cooled cables, secondary circuit, rolling rings, etc. and expanded to mining sector 2 years ago, where Cosandes is offering products for heavy equipment maintenance and special applications. Besides its participation in supply of special quality piping supply, like casings for petroleum industry, stainless steel for tunneling, or other infrastructure projects.
During these last 17 years Ms. Cossio performed continuous visits to almost all the 70-80 regional steel mills, most of them being now Cosandes’ customers like Ahmsa, Simec, Deacero, Gerdau, Ternium, Mittal, Votorantim, Sidor, etc; and of course its European/Asian sources.
Dr. Waldo Perez is a well-known mining executive with 28 years of experience in industry and academy. Currently is the President and CEO of Neolithium Corp. a company incorporated in January 2016 for the development of the 3Q Lithium project in Catamarca, Argentina.
Dr. Waldo Perez was the founder, President and CEO of Lithium Americas Corp. (LAC:T) from 2009 to 2013. This company found the third largest brine lithium deposit in the world and took it from discovery to definitive feasibility study in just 5 years.
Prior to joining Lithium Americas Corp., Dr. Perez was the President and CEO of Latin American Minerals (LAT:T) between 2009 and 2010 and the VP of Exploration between 2006 and 2009. In Latin American Minerals Waldo Perez headed the exploration team that discovered a significant gold deposit in Paraguay (Paso Yobai) that today is under pilot scale production as well as identified significant zinc project in Argentina and a new diamond discovery in Paraguay.
Dr. Perez also worked as Senior Geologist for Barrick Gold Corporation (ABX) and was responsible for project generation for 6 years. In Barrick Dr Perez carried on gold project generation in Patagonia (Argentina) that lead to the discovery of Lomada de Leiva and El Tranquilo Gold Project, today in Production by Patagonia Gold PLC (PGD.L). He was also involved in the exploration of Veladero and Lama in Argentina, and Alto Chicama in Peru, as well as responsible for regional exploration in Eskay Creek, Canada.
He also held positions at IAMGOLD, Opawica Explorations Inc and Apex Geoscience. Dr. Perez brings 18 years of industry experience and 6 years in academia as a distinguished lecturer.
Waldo A. Perez, B.Sc.(Honors Geology), Ph.D., P.Geo., received his undergraduate and Doctorate degree in geology from the Universidad Nacional de Tucuman, Argentina (1982-1991) and completed Postdoctoral studies at the University of Alberta (1992-1993). Dr. Perez is a registered Professional Geoscientist with the Association of Professional Engineers, and a Geoscientist of British Columbia (2006).
Wilma Swarts joined Metals Focus as Director of PGM Research in April 2020. Prior to this she headed the commercial services and marketing functions at Lonmin Plc.
Prior to joining the mining sector she worked in the automotive industry. She holds a M.Sc. in International Business Administration from the University of London and an honours degree from the University of Johannesburg.
She is also the current chairperson of the Women in PGM network.
Wee Jin Yeoh is the Secretary General of the South East Asian Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI) with its office in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. He has been in the steel business for about 20 years, covering corporate strategy, market research & analysis, project feasibility studies, M&A, government relations, as well as general management of a few regional business units of NatSteel Holdings (Singapore). He has a wide knowledge of the ASEAN steel market as well as industry experience in the various countries where he managed the business units. He has also actively participated in SEAISI activities at regional as well as at ASEAN levels in the past.
Wee Jin Yeoh holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (Melbourne, Australia), a Graduate Diploma in Computing Studies from the University of Canberra and a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School Management at the University of New South Wales, Australia.
